Met a friend at the coffeeshop and sketched for a while today… doodled these cars (neither of which I’d want to meet in a dark alley) and vague, catlike scribblings after spending a while absorbed in The Art of Kung Fu Panda looking at Nicolas Marlet’s brilliant character designs. The integrity of design and strength of art direction in that film was a major hook for me, and a major reason all the designs held together so well was that Nicolas Marlet did a huge percentage of the visual development for the cast. Beautiful drawings… One of the nicest art books I have seen. Amazon’s backordered on the book, but I picked up a copy in-store at Borders, no problem.
